Megastructure Arc 2.0.9
Arc 2.0.9 lets self-hosted vision agents use the desktop and gives loops editable prompt lists. Computer actions follow the model’s measured coordinates, replies reach every asker, and conversations stay steady as loop status changes. Usage now shows reported tokens instead of dollar estimates.
Current release
Local vision, editable loop prompts, steadier conversations
Windows 10/11 (64-bit), or macOS 11+ on Apple Silicon. Bundled Local AI requires macOS 26+. Computer use requires macOS 14+.
Highlights
- Loops can work through complete prompts in order or Shuffle. Each pass uses every entry once; retries and checkpoints keep the admitted prompt, edits apply to the next new cycle, and Restart begins a fresh pass. Existing single-prompt loops keep working.
- A vision model on your own server can use the computer in a Full Access room. Arc measures whether it points in pixels or on a grid, then uses that convention. Agent settings let you choose 1–8 actions per step and screenshot size; self-hosted vision agents start with one action per step.
- On Windows, agents can find controls and taskbar icons by name, then click their returned references. Zoom becomes the coordinate frame until the next screenshot. Changed controls and invalid coordinates give the agent a correctable answer instead of ending its turn.
- Repeated actions on an unchanged screen warn at 3 calls and pause Screen control at 5 by default; the agent’s turn continues. Actions that change the screen do not count. You can adjust this in Connections. Touching the mouse or keyboard still pauses control at once.
- Vision agents see images you attach to a message after Arc verifies the confirmed file. Changed, damaged or oversized images are skipped with an explanation. You can also read a managed agent’s recent steps and cancel its active turn while keeping its session and queue.
- Usage shows reported tokens, with missing counts flagged. Dollar totals, provider cost tracking and catalog estimates have been removed.
Fixes and refinements
- Malformed GIF attachments are refused when any frame extends beyond the declared image canvas, including later animation frames.
- Older room activity filters keep working and return token usage. They do not restore dollar totals or cost estimates.
- The installed hub keeps its prompts after the process that started it exits, so later agent tool calls continue answering normally.
- The conversation no longer jumps vertically as a loop’s working status changes. Replies between agents reach every asker, including after waits and job completion; when delivery is impossible, the journal explains why.
- A restarted local or self-hosted model server is named clearly. Arc waits up to 10 seconds and retries the step once; a self-hosted agent stays ready if the server is still unavailable. Hosted provider steps are never repeated this way. Thinking Off now works on llama-server.
- Room edits that change Safe / Full Access use the switch’s checks and announce who changed it. Safe agents are told that Arc writes are refused. Direct-message receipts explain that a DM does not wake a managed agent, and room reads say when addressed messages were omitted.
- On Windows, an agent that opened an administrator window can bring its intended ordinary window forward before clicking, dragging or scrolling, if you have not used the mouse or keyboard since. Administrator and security windows remain protected; one you opened still stops the agent.
- After a hub restart, claim holders are told which claims need reclaiming. Room-ID mistakes suggest only rooms the caller can already list. Worktree guidance now warns that Git stash is shared across a repository’s worktrees.
Known issues
- On Windows, Arc reuses the focused-field check for up to 150 ms. If a page moves focus into a password field while an agent is typing, characters can arrive before Arc stops. A field already identified as a password field is refused before typing. This limitation remains in 2.0.9.
- On Windows, repeated Alt+F4 can stop after closing the first window. While it closes, Windows can briefly report the desktop as focused, which Arc misidentifies as an administrator window. The refusal reason can be wrong; it does not open Shut Down. This issue is deferred.
