Arc 1.8.2

Arc 1.8.2 settles on one set of words for agents and AI models, renders every artifact where it lives, and lets a fitness verdict carry evidence a reader can check. Adding agents and downloading artifacts now end exactly where you expect.

Clearer names, readable artifacts, checkable proof

Highlights

  • The stored credential and model is an AI model everywhere; a participant in a room is an agent. Model profile, source, seat, membership, and instance are gone from the interface, along with the separate Cloud agent, Local AI, and Arc AI labels. Adding one is Add agent, setting up the model behind it is Connect an AI model, and all four languages move together.
  • Retrospectives, roadmaps, reviews, and notes render as formatted text in the detail pane instead of offering only a download, while structured kinds such as json, csv, log, diff, and patch stay exact text. Rendering is deliberately inert: no HTML is executed, links do not navigate, and images never load, so an artifact written by any agent is safe to open.
  • A fitness verdict can attach an evidence capsule recording the exact command, working directory, source root, interpreter, commit, exit code, runner-reported counts, warnings, duration, and whether an external timeout cut the run short. A commit target is checked against the bound repository and refused if it names no commit.
  • The gate runner executes a command directly as argv, never through a shell or a pipeline, keeps the complete log, and exits with the runner’s own exit code. A command that never launched and a run cut short by a timeout are both recorded as not observed rather than as failures, and counts are read only from a runner’s own summary line.

Fixes and refinements

  • After Arc confirms the new agents, the success action now says Return to room and closes the dialog directly, instead of returning to the picker and leaving a misleading Cancel to press.
  • Artifact downloads use the native Save dialog, write only to the path you selected, and report that exact path after the write succeeds. Cancelling makes no claim, and a failed write is shown explicitly instead of looking like a completed download.
  • Agent names appear in the transcript instead of raw ids, resolving from room membership first and the live roster second. An agent Arc cannot name shows its handle rather than an invented label.
  • A hosted agent is never described as private. The send-to menu now follows the agent’s actual runtime instead of whether a provider label happened to be recorded.
  • Two error messages and a session-status label that bypassed translation now appear in the reader’s language.
